Year 1 into Year 2, Summer Project 19/20
Identify Define: My personal Manifesto
Brief: Year 2 project will begun through a series of studio based projects and different activities. I will start to shape my individual direction in my work. This project will help me to test and apply different ways of working, navigate and establish personal illustration and visual media practice. ”Many ‘Creatives’ use manifestos as a communication tool to emphasize their own personal stance, abilities and thoughts”.
Task One:
First task is to create a manifesto that documents sets of principles and goals of organisation, collective or individual. To present my manifesto I will produce 6 blog posts showing my research, analysis that underpins my manifesto.
My 6 blog posts will show my personal manifesto, research and development.
Task Two: ‘What type of artist do I want to be?’
My manifesto will be set up as a 15-120 seconds time-based piece. It can be shown typographically, image based, embedded dialogue, as an interview, direct to camera or images of my design work. It can be as free as I want to be, as long as it answers my question.
Task 1
1. Enquiry – What did you find out?
What is a manifesto?
A manifesto is designed to work in the public domain to communicate a stance or point of view. Manifesto serves as a declaration of a set values and rules for others of a like mind to follow or subscribe to.
Stanislaw Przybyszewski was a polish writer and a poet. His drama was often associated with symbolist movement and he wrote both in polish and German. He wrote a small book called ”Confiteor” with couple of pages maximum of 7 pages long. The word ”Confiteor” comes from latin language, and it means ”confession” In there, he creates new synthesis, reaches new perspectives on art and creates his very own manifestos that builds upon modern polish society.
Confiteor
''..that art reproduces what is eternal, independent of any
change or randomness, independent of time or space, and thus
reflects the soul. He reconstructs all its manifestations,
regardless of whether they are good or bad, ugly or beautiful. ''
– Stanislaw Przybyszewski
''Art has no purpose, it is an end in itself, it is an absolute
because it is a reflection of the absolute - the soul. And
because it is an absolute, so it cannot be caught in any notches, it cannot be at the service of any idea, it is the lady, the
source from which all her life emerged''
Przybyszewski thinks that the artist should be blind and deaf for aspects like social rights, ethics rights, names and formulas. He thinks the artist should only concentrate on the power of soul that erupts on the outside. He called art ”the revelation of the soul in all its states” The most important sentence in this manifesto, is that art does not have any goal, it is the goal in itself, it is absolute, because it is reflected by absolute-soul.
To sum up Przybyszewski’s manifesto, his main points of view about art, is that it should be like an honest open soul with all its manifestations. Art like a goal in itself, where only the real freedom allows it to

5. Realisation – Your Manifesto
What type of artist do I want to be?
I want to be an artist who creates new emotions, who makes people drift away from reality. I don’t want to be an artist who creates unnecessary art. I want to be exciting. I want people to look at my art and find themselves. I want to tell a story; but most importantly explore what my mind can do.
Description of the movie:
Utopia: an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect.
The film was recorded in a place that I feel most safe and calm, hence the setting in the forest and lake side.I wanted to connect these two places together because thats where I loose my mind and be the artist I aspire to be. In the film, you can see shots of forest, sunset, water, sky, and nature. I think I wanted to create this utopia place where everything is perfect, but not quite. I am an artist that likes to use contrast in my work, and leave my art for interpretation for my audience. The idea behind the film, is the idea of drowning with my thoughts of my imagination. I have chosen to use my painting as a tool of my favourite medium which is; painting.
6. Realisation – Evaluation (50 words)

why black and white?
The most successful part of this Summer project, was trying something completely new to me. It was my first time creating
